The Hyannis Public Library Trustees and staff are pleased to announce the renovation of the Twombly Addition, first opened to the public in October 1974. The 2008 renovation is made possible by a number of community sponsors who have supported the library’s efforts to complete these projects.
A grant from the Kirkman Trust administered by the Town of Barnstable via Trust Advisory Committee has allowed the library to refurbish the walls of the addition with fresh paint, replace the flooring in the Children’s Department and the Main Circulation and stack areas, and build new counters for the public access computer users. A new ADA circulation desk for check out and return of materials in the adult department was made possible by grants from the Rotary Club of Hyannis, the Edward Bangs Kelley and Elza Kelley Foundation, Inc., and the Cape Cod Five Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Trust. A grant from the Lyndon Lorusso Trust has provided funding for painting and refurbishing the Children’s Room.
Please visit the Hyannis Library soon to enjoy our new fresh look as the library resumed normal operating hours on Tuesday March 18th. The library is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a. m. to 8 p. m. and Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The staff of the library is ready to show you all our changes.
