BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP MEETS 2nd FRIDAY
You are invited to join a newly formed Book Discussion Group at the Hyannis Public Library on the second Friday of each month starting February 12th at 2 p.m. The group is being organized and led by Stephen R. Pastore, literary bibliographer, novelist and playwright. He is the first American to be elected to the Council of Management of the Thomas Hardy Society (UK) and the President of the Emile Zola Society. He has lectured extensively on the novel as art form in Europe and the US. He lives in Sandwich with his wife and sixteen month old son (and his 2 Italian greyhounds).
The book discussion group will feature classic works that you may have read long ago in school or may never have had the time to read. Take this opportunity to join the group that will begin with Frankenstein or the New Prometheus by Mary Shelly on February 12th. Future books to be discussed will include Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, Sister Carrie by Theodore Dreiser, Main Street by Sinclair Lewis, and Maggie, a girl of the Streets by Stephen Crane. Copies of Frankenstein are available for check out at the Main Desk of the Hyannis Public Library.
